Amazon 5-Star Review - Unforgettable

James Kaufman has written one of the most memorable books that I have ever read. I laughed and I cried, but most of all I walked away wanting to be a better person. I understand the parallels drawn by others to Grisham, but I think Mr. Kaufman has exceeded the mark by penning a message of hope and strength regardless of the challenge.
The Collectables is a beautiful story the reminds the reader to pay closer attention to people in their lives and to "listen" and "hear" and lend a helping hand when needed. The amazing part of this to me is that the message is presented in such a way that never offends or feels preachy.
This book was exceptionally touching to me because I have a very close friend with a similar medical condition who is also facing this horrible disease with similar strength and grace. However, I never really was able to understand what she was feeling until I read this book. She is very much like Joe and reading The Collectables gave me insight that I will forever be grateful to have.
It would be hard to complete this review without mentioning Buck. Although all of the characters were well-developed I found myself totally in love with Buck. One day I hope to have a "best friend" just like him. Bravo to James Kaufman for writing such an amazing book that carries such a worthy message for all of humanity. I hope there are many more books coming!
